Six members of the team “Top Five” will play in the 2017 US Open main draw

The final Grand Slam of the season starts in New York on Monday with six players from the Top Five’s team in the main draws in men’s and women’s singles tournaments.

Ukrainian star Elina Svitolina is seeded fourth. She will face World No. 41 Czech Katerina Siniakova in the first round. Elina will compete in New York for the sixth time as she previously made it to the third round twice (2015, 2016)

Russian Daria Kasatkina, currently ranked No. 38 on the WTA list, will start her campaign against World No. 55 Wang Qiang of China, who defeated her in the US Open opener last year. Dasha plays in New York for the third time with her best result coming in 2015, when she reached the third round of the main draw as a qualifier.

Ons Jabeur of Tunisia, No. 98 on the WTA rankings, will play her first match against Brienne Minor of Australia, who received a wild-card. Ons comes back on the courts of New York for the fifth time and for the second time she will start the competition from the main draw.

World No. 88 Aliaksandra Sasnovich, who represents Belarus, starts her US Open campaign against American Julia Boserap, currently ranked No. 114 on the WTA list. Sasnovich plays in New York for the fourth time, where she has reached the second round in 2014.

18-year-old Anna Blinkova, World No. 117 from Russia, successfully qualified to the US Open main draw for the first time in her career. In the opening round she will play against fellow Russian Elena Vesnina, who is seed 1th7.

Our only representative in the men’s tournament – Russian Daniil Medvedev (No. 53 on the ATP rankings) will face Canadian Denis Shapovalov, World No. 69, who advanced to the main draw through the qualification. It’s the second US Open campaign for Medvedev, but for the first time he will play in the main draw.
