It was a successful week for our two young players at the tournament in Italy – Katarina Zavatska and Dayana Yastremska.
In Santa Margherita di Pula 17-year-old Katarina Zavatska won her third professional tournament and her first 25K title. Katarina started her campaign in a qualifying draw and won seven matches in a row (six of them against the players with a higher ranking) en route to the title. With this victory Katarina will rise to the top-400 in the rankings and set her new career-high.
16-year-old Dayana Yastremska joined her friend as a doubles champion of the week, partnering Olesya Pervushina of Russia. For Dayana it’s already her second consecutive ITF 25K doubles title as she was a champion at the same level event in Moscow at the end of February.
Last year Dayana Yastremskaya won a singles 25K title in Brazil, becoming the first player born after the year 2000 to win a $25,000 title.
