The dream of winning her first Grand Slam at the US Open ended for Ons Jabeur last night. Very tense, the Tunisian star had a lot of trouble to enter his second Grand Slam final. Indeed, Swiatek was already leading 3-0 after only 15 minutes of play. After coming back at 3-2, Ons was hit by Swiatek’s level of play and could not prevent her from taking the first set 6-2.
Everyone was expecting a reaction from the future world No. 2 at the beginning of the second set. However, it wasn’t until Ons Jabeur was on the edge of losing the match for good that she came back into it, fighting for a deciding set. With the possibility of winning her third Grand Slam title, Swiatek cracked under pressure and committed more unforced errors, allowing Ons to come back to her level (4-4).
However, despite a remarkable level of play at the end of the second set and an excellent situation to take the set in the tie-break, Ons could not avoid the third Grand Slam title of the world number 1 Iga Swiatek. She lost in two sets (6-2, 7-6 (5)) and closed an outstanding Grand Slam season with two finals: Wimbledon and US Open.
Another remarkable and historical run for @Ons_Jabeur in New York! 🇹🇳👏

What a season so far! And it’s not over yet… Thanks to her fantastic run at the US Open, Ons is already qualified for the WTA Finals. Along with her opponent in the final, she is the second player this season to qualify for the event, which will be held in Fort Worth, Texas, October 31-November 7, 2022.
We look forward to seeing Ons play there and have a lot of success.
Congratulations again Ons for giving us a lot of excitement during this New York fortnight.
